ASTU ONCHAIN BUILDATHON 2026
Build and deploy an original smart contract protocol on Base or Ethereum Layer 2 solving real economic, institutional, or developer frictions in Africa.
All students across ASTU (SoEEC, CSE, SWE, ECE) and developer community peers. Solo builders or teams of up to 4 members.
Daily office hours with CSEC leads, smart contract auditing assistance, and direct feedback from experienced Web3 protocol contributors.

Building trust-minimized, low-fee payment rails, P2P escrow mechanisms, and stablecoin savings protocols for cross-border African commerce.

Verifiable diplomas, Soulbound academic certificates (ERC-5192), and zero-knowledge proof verification for institutional university records.
ACCOUNT ABSTRACTION & MOBILE UX

JUDGING & SHIP CRITERIA
WORKING DEPLOYMENT
Projects must have smart contracts deployed to an EVM testnet or Layer 2 (e.g. Base Sepolia, Ethereum Sepolia) with verified source code.
TEST SUITE & SECURITY
Code quality is paramount. Submissions must include automated Foundry or Hardhat unit tests, invariant fuzzing, or Slither audit logs.
REAL AFRICAN UTILITY
We prioritize solutions that tackle concrete economic, educational, or infrastructure bottlenecks across Ethiopia and the continent.
OPEN SOURCE COMMITMENT
All repositories must be publicly accessible on GitHub under open licenses (MIT / Apache 2.0) with comprehensive README documentation.
